BSAC eLearning allows students to begin or progress training with online theory sessions.

BSAC eLearning is an online platform enabling students to take theory sessions of certain BSAC courses online. The platform is still in development and not all diver training courses are available yet, but we endeavour to make them available soon.

Below are some of the most asked questions surrounding our eLearning platform. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch on info@bsac.com.

What is eLearning?

BSAC eLearning is an online training platform allowing you to take scuba diving theory lessons digitally. The eLearning courses consist of modules that each have a digital student manual. The information will be visual as well as text-based, including diagrams, videos, mini-quizzes and an end of module test.

Following the completion of eLearning, the practical elements of the course will then be completed at your chosen BSAC Club or Centre.

How do I get access to an eLearning course?

If you are looking to learn to dive with a BSAC eLearning course, please select the option that best applies to you:

If you are already a qualified scuba diver and are looking to advance your qualifications, please select the option that best applies to you:

We also have a few online modules which are available for free to all members. You should be able to access these without signing up if you are already a member.

What happens when I have purchased a pack or registered?

BSAC will send you an email with a digital student manual. You will then be sent a link so that you can enter your eLearning area. You will only have access to the course you have made your purchase.

Please note that it can take between 2-3 working days to process your purchase so please be patient.

What do you get in a digital eLearning pack?

Your eLearning pack will contain a PDF of the student manual, as well as a qualification record page so your instructor can sign off your practical elements.

Depending on the course you choose, you will also have online access to the relevant manual and tables (air / nitrox).

All your theory modules will appear on your MyBSAC page once they are completed online and a Unique Reference Number (URN) is date stamped in your digital pack, which will be used to certify you.

How long will it take?

The benefit of online eLearning is that you can learn at your own pace, allowing you to stop and start as you wish. Each course has multiple modules and each module should take you between 30 mins to one hour to complete.

Will it work on my tablet or smartphone?

For the optimal experience, we recommend you run eLearning on your desktop computer or laptop as the site is not fully responsive.

If you are using an Apple product, you may have to enable cookies for the system to work properly.

Enable cookies on iPad/iPhone

Tap on Settings > Go to Safari > Uncheck the sliders next to 'Prevent cross-site tracking' and 'Block all cookies'.

Enable cookies on iMac/MacBook

Open Safari > Select Preferences… from the drop-down menu > Go to the Privacy tab. Uncheck the boxes next to 'Prevent cross-site tracking' and 'Block all cookies'.

Do I have to be connected to the internet?

Yes, you must have internet access to utilise the eLearning area on the BSAC website.

How do I get my Qualification Record Book (QRB) signed off?

When you complete and pass the eLearning theory modules, the results will be emailed to you and logged on your MyBSAC page.

After completing your practical sessions, your instructor will sign off the modules in your QRB and we will update your MyBSAC page.

How do I receive support while completing eLearning?

If you don't understand any of your theory training or would like to ask additional questions, you can contact your instructor in your BSAC Club or Centre.

Additionally, there is an online chatbox that you can use to leave a message or chat with an online instructor if available.

How does my instructor get notified about my progress?

Not automatically, no. However, you can send them your completed modules certificates so that they can see how you have done.

Am I able to research anything when I am doing the quiz?

The quiz modules are timed so you can save where you are to look something up, then you can resume.

Who will give me my qualification?

Once you have completed all the theory and practical modules, you will supply the Centre Lead Instructor or the Club Diving Officer with your Unique Reference Number (URN) that came with your pack. They will then certify you online and you will receive your qualification card in the post from BSAC.

Your qualification will also be updated on your MyBSAC page, which is handy if you forget your card and wish to show a dive centre your qualification.

Am I only allowed to do a certain amount of courses in a year or can I do all of them?

You can do multiple courses as long as you progress and complete each one before beginning the next.

Do the quiz modules count towards my qualification?

Yes, you must pass each quiz to complete each module. If you achieve 80% (4 out of 5) on each quiz then they qualify as a 'pass'.

What’s a knowledge review?

Once the theory is completed, you will meet with your instructor to complete the practical elements. Before jumping in, you will need to doa. final knowledge review quiz just to make sure you have understood the theory training.

Can we do eLearning for the Dive Leader course?

We hope to eventually launch eLearning for the rest of the Diver Training Programme, but this is very much still a work in progress. Watch this space!

Can we do eLearning for Skill Development Course (SDCs)?

Again, eLearning is still a work in progress, but if successful, we hope to launch many of our SDCs on eLearning too!

If I am not a BSAC member, how can I do the eLearning course and practical elements?

If you are not a BSAC member and would love to learn to scuba dive, you can learn to dive with either a BSAC Club or BSAC Centre. You can still purchase your eLearning pack online

Training through a BSAC Centre

You would need to fill in the online form and select the BSAC Centre in the UK or overseas where you would like to complete your practical training. The centre will charge for this training, so give them a call to discuss.

Training through a BSAC Club

Find a club near you to join, train and dive with! You would need to pay for a BSAC membership and the club fees which will cover your practical training. Then, simply fill out the form to sign up for eLearning!

Can I mix and match my BSAC learning experience, so still go to the BSAC club/centre theory lessons, attend Webex seminars and do the eLearning at home?

eLearning is just one method of how you can learn.  If you have bought eLearning you can also attend lectures at your club/centre. Please note if you purchase a digital or paper pack you cannot access eLearning.

Does eLearning work the same as an app?

No, BSAC's eLearning system is website-based. You enter the eLearning area via the BSAC website and it requires an active internet connection.

Where are my qualifications stored/logged?

BSAC members' diver grade qualifications are logged on their MyBSAC page.
