Longstanding BSAC member and instructor Rosemary E Lunn has been inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame for her work championing the dive industry.
The 2025 inductees to the prestigious International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame (ISDHF) are unique as it is the first time that all members being inducted are women.
Established by the Cayman Islands Ministry of Tourism in 2000, the ISDHF celebrates dive industry leaders who have contributed to the success of recreational scuba diving worldwide through innovation and advancements made in the areas of dive tourism, equipment design, dive safety, inclusivity, exploration, adventure, innovation and more.
Rosemary – known to many as Roz – has been a very active BSAC volunteer, which has included helping to write some of the BSAC manuals, and been involved in BSAC club diving and teaching.
Accepting the award, she acknowledged the part BSAC had played in her long diving career:
I am deeply honored to be inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame. This recognition is not just a personal milestone, but a celebration of the incredible journey that diving has given me.
Little did I know that my first fin steps in Stoney Cove would lead me to assuring Diving Safety Management Systems some 33 years later. My path has been shaped by the extraordinary divers I’ve met, learned from, dived, trained and worked with around the world. Being exposed and reporting on the latest equipment, training, research, and discoveries has been fascinating, and creating events that bring our diving communites together has been a privilege. Scuba diving has profoundly influenced and positively transformed my life. I am grateful to be part of this vibrant, supportive community that continues to inspire future generations to explore our oceans.
Being the first BSAC instructor (female) to receive this honour is truly humbling—especially when I think of the ‘BSAC Greats’ who have encouraged me along the way. Pioneers like Lizzie Bird, Margaret Baldwin, Jane Maddocks, and Mary Tetley have each made incredible contributions to BSAC, and I am honoured to follow in their footsteps.
One of BSAC’s greatest strengths is its emphasis on comprehensive dive planning and execution—from chart work and boat handling to deploying a lazy shot. The invaluable skills I’ve gained through BSAC have allowed me to share remarkable experiences and adventurous dives with like-minded souls. And that’s what I love most about diving - you never stop learning. With BSAC, I have the opportunity to continually expand my knowledge and skills, ensuring my passion for the underwater world will always grow.
The BSAC team wishes to congratulate Roz on her accolade, and sends thanks for many years of tireless support for the diving industry.
