A boatful of scuba Santas took part in a charity dive on Saturday 17 December to raise money for the RNLI.
Organised by BSAC Centre Jurassic Aqua Sports, the hardy bunch set sail on annual Christmas Charity Santa Dive from Portland Marina, heading into somewhat lumpy seas.
Dressed in appropriate Father Christmas attire the group’s first dive was the wreck of the British Inventor, with a reported 3-4m visibility.
The boat then returned to calmer waters in the shelter of Portland Harbour where the team enjoyed a surface interval of hot pasties, washed down with hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
Our soggy Santas then splashed in for a second dive of the day on the Countess Of Erne wreck, reporting 6m vis. For the ride home the divers were treated to even more hot chocolate, served up with hot mince pies.
David Collins of Jurassic Aqua Sports said:
100% of proceeds raised from this event was in aid of the lifeboat at RNLI Weymouth. The total raised was £1,075! A very big thank you for all involved, including BSAC for donating raffle prizes.
