Are you passionate about protecting the underwater world and driving sustainable change? BSAC is seeking a Chair for its new Environment and Sustainability Group to lead transformative initiatives, inspire action within our community, and shape a greener future for our waters.

The underwater world is a source of wonder, inspiration, and vital biodiversity. For divers, it offers not only adventure but also a deep connection to ecosystems that are crucial for the health of our planet. Yet, as we all know, this precious environment faces significant threats, from climate change and pollution to habitat degradation.

BSAC’s commitment to environmental conservation

As part of our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, BSAC has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation. By leading through example, we aim to adopt sustainable practices in all we do, inspire positive action within our community, and collaborate with partners to drive meaningful change. This includes initiatives such as underwater and beach clean-ups and campaigns advocating for cleaner, healthier waters.

To amplify this impact, BSAC is proud to be a member of the Clean Water Sports Alliance, through which we will push for policy changes and accelerated action on pollution, aiming to significantly improve the health of UK waters by 2030. We are also dedicated to publishing a sustainability plan that will set out clear, actionable steps toward a greener future.

New BSAC Environment and Sustainability Group

To help realise these ambitions, BSAC is establishing an Environment and Sustainability Group. This new group will drive our environmental strategy, ensuring it is both effective and innovative. The Chair of this group will play a pivotal role, working closely with the HQ team, inspiring fresh ideas and leading efforts to turn our goals into reality.

This is an exciting volunteer opportunity to make a tangible difference for our community and the underwater world we cherish. If you are passionate about sustainability, innovation, and the health of our marine ecosystems, we invite you to consider this role.

Interested? Great! Next steps…
