BSAC recreational and technical instructor James Soos has been confirmed as the new Regional Coach for the Eastern region.

James first dived while serving in the British Army where he quickly excelled, becoming an Open Water Instructor in October 2019. He is able to teach recreational diving, and both open and closed circuit technical diving - although his favourite has to be technical diving. Irrespective, James is always happy to jump into the water for training or pleasure, and no matter what the weather!

Today he runs a BSAC Centre in Bedfordshire, and believes the eastern region holds a lot of potential. James said:

The Eastern Region is full of exciting opportunities. We have the most landlocked clubs on the western side of our region and also access to the beautiful east coast. We are very diverse!

On training, James is a big believer in developing and coaching the diver to achieve their goals, whether it be better buoyancy and trim because they enjoy photography, or wanting to be an advanced mixed gas diver with their heart set for a trip to the Britannic.

Announcing the new appointment, BSAC Diving and Training Advisor Julia Branagan said:

On behalf of BSAC I extend a very warm welcome to James as he takes up the role of Eastern Regional Coach. He brings with him a broad set of skills as a club diver, instructor, and technical diver that open up exciting new possibilities for members and clubs in the region.

James will be at the Go Diving Show on Saturday 1 March to meet members from the Eastern region (and beyond), so pop by the BSAC stand 54 to say hello.
