BSAC has appointed a new Audit Committee Chair to lead and manage the BSAC Audit Committee to deliver against its Terms of Reference.
Helen Morris has had a 35-year career specialising in internal audit, after training initially as an accountant (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). She has held numerous senior financial roles at the Welsh Government, DEFRA, and the Health Protection Agency (now called the UK Health Security Agency) which have given her practical internal audit experience.
Her experience is entwined with relevant technical knowledge, continually updated and developed since she qualified as an accountant and then as an internal auditor. Helen is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, IIA-UK and a Certified Internal Auditor, IIA Global.
Although no longer diving actively, Helen remains a member of BSAC and has enjoyed many years of scuba diving both in the UK and around the world.
BSAC Audit Committee
The primary role of the Audit Committee chair is to lead and manage the BSAC Audit Committee to deliver against its Terms of Reference. The role also includes overseeing the appointment of committee members as well as liaising with the stakeholders including Honorary Treasurer, CEO, COO and the Auditors.
The Audit Committee Chair's key responsibilities include:
- Establish the Audit Committee
- Lead and manage the Audit Committee, in accordance with its Terms of Reference
- Engage with stakeholders
- Report to BSAC Council
