A diving expedition is simply a group of divers going diving for a purpose. A dive, or series of dives, that is more challenging and that deliver specific results, rather than the usual (yet enjoyable) club dive or holiday.
Want to take part in or organise an expedition?
Expeditions can be organised by clubs, regions or by groups of clubs or individual members working together. To get started:
- Speak to the Diving Officer or Expeditions Officer in your club.
- Contact your Regional Coach to see if your region has any expeditions scheduled.
- Read about current and past diving expeditions.
- Sign up to one of the inter-club expeditions (see table below)...

Oban & Sound of Mull Advanced Diver training expedition |
29th February - 1st March 2020. An Advanced Diver training event aiming to sign off 4-6 of the 20 required experience dives for Advanced Diver, as well as ad-hoc coaching and completion of AP1: Expedition Planning. Subject to weather and tides dives were selected from the main sites (SS Hispania, SS Rondo, SS Breda, SS Thesis, Risga Pinnacle, Elizabeth Rock, WWII Flying Boats amongst others). |

Normandy 75 | 29 July - 2 August 2019. The BSAC-coordinated trip, which has been over two-and-a-half years in the planning, comes just six weeks after the 75th anniversary on 6 June, the day that saw the Allied landings on the coast of Normandy and the beginning of the liberation of France. Led by Clidive’s Ben Jaffey, the planning team behind Normandy 75 included Southsea SAC’s Martin Davies and Alison Mayor as well as Dave Lock and Jane Maddocks. |
Scapa 100 project | Running over various dates in 2019. This special project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the scuttling of the interned German High Seas fleet at Scapa Flow at the end of World War I. |
Eyemouth wreck diving | Running over various dates in 2019: 31 March, 21 April, 23 June, 6 October. Discover Eyemouth wreck diving in this technical diving expedition. This expedition is organised by the BSAC Technical team and dive sites are between 47-62 metres. |
Malin Head wreck diving | Running over various dates in 2019: 8–14 June, 17–23 and 24–30 August. Discover the world-famous Malin Head wreck diving sites on the Wild Atlantic Way (County Donegal). Marlin Head boasts the largest number of U-boats in the world and sunken ocean-going liners so there is no end to the adventures on offer. This expedition is organised by the BSAC Technical team and dive sites are between 42-72 metres. |
