Our club, the Isle of Purbeck Sub Aqua Club, is a friendly branch of about 35 members, based in the town of Swanage in Dorset. We meet about once a month in the winter for a social, and during the summer we meet at Swanage Pier on Wednesday evenings. On summer Wednesday evenings some members will for a dive under the pier, some go out on a members boat, which we use for most of our boat dive programme. After diving some people head to the pub for a drink.

Our boat dives are on Wednesday evenings and on Sundays. Once a month, on a good tide we will charter a hardboat.

Most of our dives are 30m or shallower and many dives less than 20m. Swanage is a fantastic place to have as a base, with great diving.

We don’t offer training at the Club. Our focus is on going diving. Anyone who needs trainiing we point to local dive schools

We have a significant number of very keen photographers in our Club, with several winners of significant photography competions among them.

The Club has a great history of project diving. In November 2021 our ‘Bumps in the Bay’ Project won the prestigious BSAC Duke of Cambridge Award. This year we are helping Professor Ken Collins from Southampton University with monitoring the seagrass beds in Studland Bay.
