Bury SAC was first formed in 1973 to teach people how to dive and experience the underwater world. The club is run by volunteers and is non-profit making. Our British Sub Aqua Club Qualified Instructors give their time to help trainees progress with their diving qualifications and experience.
Training is conducted at your own pace, ability and confidence, according to time of year and availability of instructors. For pool training we use the 4m deep diving pool at Castle Leisure Centre from 8pm till 9pm every Monday evening.
The Training Officer arranges lectures and you will be notified of times etc. We usually hold these on Mondays at Castle Leisure Centre, unless otherwise notified. Open Water training normally takes place at weekends, although depending on availability of Instructors, it may be possible to arrange mid-week training.
We organise weekends and week long diving trips around the UK and overseas as well as social events.
The club has its own RHIB (rigid hull inflatable boat) called Orange Peel. Currently stored on the Menai Strait, North Wales, OP offers access to many interesting dive sites.
