Okay, so you have started using social media to promote your club, now you need to monitor it and keep it going.

7 quick tips to make your social media work for you:

  • Keep your social media pages up-to-date with regular content, try and post weekly at the least, even if it's just a small update when you're at your weekly club night.
  • Video is great content for social media and websites. Do you have someone in your club that shoots underwater video? If so, why not upload videos to your social media pages, and everywhere you can to get maximum exposure. Short and sweet is best. Short burst of just 15 seconds of anything that shows your club in its best light will be great. And you don't have to rely on underwater footage - showing club activity above the surface can really illustrate what being in your club is like.
  • Don’t try and promote yourselves too obviously. There's a fine line between sales posts and self-promotion but try and tow that line.
  • Share your social media usernames and '@handles' where you can - on your main website and on any club leaflets, posters etc. Your free club banner has space for your social media channels, so utilise this!
  • Use social media to reach out and connect with other clubs. Follow them, like their posts and respond to their stories - and they should start to do the same. There is always more to learn and you can pick up recruitment tips from other clubs too!
  • Clubs have a high success rate when they answer messages from potential members quickly (within 24 hours is best).
  • Use and share content from BSAC's social media pages if you haven't got anything to post in a particular week (and check out your regional team pages too).
