B1251 Marine Conservation Divers (MCD) provides a way for members to support the Seasearch programme via their branch subs. Organised Seasearch surveys require third-party liability insurance and BSAC membership provides this. Many members have MCD as their second club if they also wish to join a local branch. You do not need to be a member of the Marine Conservation Society nor Seasearch-trained/-qualified to join MCD.
